Dr. Maria Pappas is an Associate Professor in Entomology and Acarology at the Department of Agricultural Development. She has a first degree in Agricultural Sciences (Crop Protection) and a PhD in Entomology from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece). She has worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Freie Universitat Berlin (Germany) and the University of Amsterdam (The Netherlands). In 2014, she was awarded a Fulbright Award to perform research at the University of California, Riverside. Her main research interests are in ecology of arthropods and plant-herbivore interactions. She is the Vice-Head of the Department of Agricultural Development. She has published 48 papers in leading scientific journal in the fields of entomology, biological control and plant science, an h-index=21, >1600 citations. She has coordinated/participated in 12 projects funded by the EU, International and national bodies (HFRI, PRIMA, DAAD, GSRT, Ministry of Education, Onassis Foundation) and 37 projects funded by the industry. She is member of the editorial board of Entomologia Generalis, Journal of Sustainable Agriculture and Environment, Ecological Solutions and Evidence, Landscape Ecology, Bulletin of Entomological Research, Journal of Economic Entomology, Applied Entomology and Zoology, and Frontiers in Ecology & Evolution.
