Alexander Weinhold

Dr. Alexander Weinhold is a post-doctoral researcher at the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv – Halle-Jena-Leipzig) in Leipzig, Germany and the Institute for Biodiversity at Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Germany. He has a first degree in Environmental Chemistry and a PhD in Chemistry (Chemical Ecology) from the Friedrich Schiller University Jena (Germany). He gained his PhD at the Max-Planck-Institute for Chemical Ecology in Jena (Germany) and has worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City (USA) and the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission in Geel (Belgium). His main research interest is in how plant metabolites are shaping plant-herbivore interaction but as well the interactions in plant communities in the above- and belowground. His special interest is in the analysis of root volatiles and metabolites. He has published 15 papers in leading scientific journal in the fields of chemical ecology, metabolomics and ecology, h-index=11 (Google Scholar), around 400 citations.
